MATHILDE DAMOISEL

Born in 1974, Mathilde Damoisel is a documentary filmmaker. A graduate of the IEP in Paris, she obtained a Master degree in History under the direction of Pascal Ory in 1997 and an MA in Film and TV Production at the University of Bristol (UK) in 1999. She began her career at Testimony Films with British producer and historian Steve Humphries, who has produced numerous Documentary Murals for the BBC and ITV. In 2004, she directed her first film,”Sukhumi Rive Noire” (Sukhumi Black Shore), dedicated to the memory of the 1992 war in Abkhazia and Georgia. She is also the writer and director of “Suleyman, ou l’âge d’or des Ottoman”(Suleyman, or the Golden Age of the Ottomans) (France 5); “Inde 2025” (India 2025) (ARTE); “Le ventre des femmes” (The Women’s Belly) (ARTE); “Nos 7 péchés capitaux” (Our 7 Deadly Sins) (France 5); “Sadate-Begin – Le chemin de la paix” (Sadate-Begin – The Road to Peace) (France 5); “L’Irlande de Roddy Doyle, Robert McLiam Wilson and Edna O’Brien”(The Ireland of Roddy Doyle, Robert McLiam Wilson and Edna O’Brien) (ARTE); “La Turquie d’Orhan Pamuk, Sema Kaygusuz and Elif Shafak” (Turkey of Orhan Pamuk, Sema Kaygusuz and Elif Shafak) (ARTE); “Chaban-Delmas” (France 3);” La Fin des Ottomans” (The End of the Ottomans) (ARTE).

She has directed one of the three episodes of the series “The Genius Loci: The School of Commitment in Paris” (2016) for Folamour.
