    Founded during the French Revolution, the mission of the \u00c9cole Normale Sup\u00e9rieure was to train the teachers and elites of the Republic. In the early 20th century, it became the hub of French intellectual and scientific life. All the great philosophical and political debates were held there, and great figures of committed intellectuals sprang from its ranks.
